Tom's Past And Future

I talked about my "Tom Sawyer," who is trying to figure out what to do with himself since leaving school. He has looked for a job, but not persistently.

Today Julia said, "Son, let's talk about your future."

He said, "No. I don't want to talk about my future."

So I said, "O. K. Let's talk about your past."

He said, "I sure don't want to talk about my past!"

That perfectly expressed his current approach to life.
